Hello and welcome! My academic journey began at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where I earned my B.A. and M.Phil in Philosophy. I have since completed an MSc in Computer Science through Georgia Tech’s OMSCS programme, with a focus on Machine Learning.
What interests me now is the place where those two halves meet: AI safety and alignment. Questions about what a system should be optimising for, what we actually mean when we say a model is “aligned”, and whose values are doing the work in that sentence, turn out to be philosophy questions wearing an engineering hat. I would like to spend my time on them.
Beyond that, I watch films and play video games. Now that coding agents exist, I have been promoted from a person with ideas to a person who occasionally ships one. Everything else runs on a sub-lethal dose of Coke Zero and iced lemon tea, administered daily, under no medical supervision.
